Rolls Royce wants to build eight Small Modular Reactors on factory production lines and then ship them out for installation on old UK Power Station sites.

They believe this factory approach will significantly reduce the time and cost it takes to build new Nuclear Power Stations.

They also believe it will bring nuclear engineering skills back to Britain rather than leaving them in the hands of Foreign Governments.

They are looking for Government commitment to support the plan so they can commence licencing work this year

In this programme David Orr, The Director of Future Programme for Rolls Royce Nuclear Division, tells us why and how they intend to progress the business and where the new power stations will be built.

We hear the arguments of Nuclear v Wind Power and how safety and security will be built into these novel method of building small 'third generation' nuclear power stations.
