Recorded in 2015.
Recorded as an outside broadcast on Canada’s National Aboriginal Day, the elders and the Chief of the Mi'kmaq Nation tell their story.
Mixed with music and voices from the day, we also hear from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Member of Parliament representing the Mi'kmaq First Nation.
The programme explores the community’s continuing struggle for recognition as a distinct identity in modern Canada, and features the music of George Paul, a renowned Mi'kmaq singer.
